Bowling Pin Shuffleboard

Bowling Pin Shuffleboard

Bowling Pin Shuffleboard has existed in Palm Creek for many years. Barb Stolz shares that Gina & James Johnson started the game when they were here. Barb has carried on the tradition since 1999 when she remembers begging pins fom a local alley. Well done Barb!

Bowling Pin Shuffleboard is played for money. It costs you $1.00 for the buy-in and quarters to pay the pot everytime you knock over the pin. Every Sunday at 1pm you can try your skill at the courts and maybe leave with a few extra dollars. Bowling Pin Shuffleboard is played like regular shuffleboard games except that you draw for a new court after your 1st game. If you were yellow in the 1st game you will be yellow again in the second. The winning team (either yellow or black) will split the money.

Getting ready for play this Sunday when the temperatures are 30C/ 86 F

Yep, that IS a real bowling pin!

Lovin' the hat Amos

I know, you did not knock it down Dave!

Bringing your own portable umbrella is a great idea!

Oh, oh, someone needs to feed the pot another quarter and subtract 10 points from their score

"Now this wayward disc that knocked down the pin is taken out of play and not counted, right?".....right!

Yes Norb, the guilty must pay the "kitty" and I doubt if that is your last quarter!!

Cutie

That hat gets around for use on you hatless gamblers. Keep hydrated too!!

Marg dividing up the winnings for 12 gamblers as there were 12 members that drew yellow colors. (6 courts were in action)

Close game! And the notice the star by the Black rectangle at the top. That signifies a win for the Black team in the 1st game

Seeking shade. And alas, it was a tie and the monies are carried over to next week! See you then.

A TOUR OF THE SHUFFLEBOARD SHED

So many ideas and helping hands inevitably leads to a well organized players' shed.

Finally a cupboard for storing items necessary for pizza days. Lots of room for coffee cups, coffee, etc

I like how there is a designated place for everything.

Thank you Santa! We all know who you are!!!

We only have room for 64 players. Anita is an optimist??

UPDATE ON THE BLOWERS

Good morning all you shufflebums!
Feast your eyes on the new blowers nesting in our shuffleboard shed. The color match is perfect to go with our black and yellow discs.
The word from our member volunteers that keep our courts in such great condition is: fewer birds leaving fewer deposits equals less time to prepare courts for play. Prevention is such a novel concept!

More "newbies" coming everyday. Welcome!!

Shubblebums everywhere! We continue to have a full 16 courts almost daily. Remember that lessons are free. No, you don't have to learn how to score when you are new. Learn the strategy and have fun meeting new friends. See you at the courts.
P.S. The Bowling Pin Sunday event has beeen cancelled 2 weeks in a row due to bad weather.

Newbie Tom. Great student! He will be back.

So happy to see you back Gene. We all missed you on the courts.

ANOTHER DAY AT THE COURTS

Our Club meets Monday to Friday at 9:00 AM,
play commences at 9:15 AM. Come early so that you won't miss out.

Thank you Robin for touching up our Black & Yellow markers.

Good morning Marg, Diane & neighbour Kristi.

Just had to get a close up of your name Jinx! You were such an enthusiastic student.

Speechless when we saw these scores. Guess who won this game??

Hooray! Our very first umbrellas! They will be a God sent when the hot weather arrives.

Shufflers line up for the drawing of court assignments. Barb has us all trained to come to her when she shakes those metal pieces in her can!!

VALENTINE'S DAY PIZZA FEAST

February 14th and full courts again today. Unfortunately we had to turn a few members away after the 64 positions were filled. There are 16 courts with 4 players, that makes 64 a "FULL HOUSE".
A record number of members signed up for the pizza lunch. That meant that Marion, our wonderful member volunteer had to make sure tables and chairs were in place at The Pavillion. You may have also noticed the care that was taken to ensure food was served in an appropriate manner.
I know those special cupcakes were a bit messy! OOPS!! Note to self (Irene Hall) do not buy anything like this again!

Men are loosing their jobs!!

So many helpers. Thank you.

Messy but yummy

Thank you to all the servers

Quess who lives inside that shirt!!

Thank you Marion. Random act of kindness😘
Welcome Tamara!

Marion & Dave finally getting fed. Thank you for the help again Dave.
